Obiano Inaugurates Comprehensive Medical Centre Awkuzu

In a bid to enhance healthcare accessibility, Governor Willie Obiano inaugurated a comprehensive medical center in Awkuzu, Oyi Local Government Area. The facility, upgraded from a Primary Health Centre, is the result of a collaborative effort by some indigenes of the community under the auspices of Adimma Awkuzu.
Governor Obiano, known for his dedication to healthcare improvements, underscored the importance of grassroots healthcare infrastructure. This commitment led to the establishment of five hundred and two primary health centers, procurement of Keke ambulances, and the establishment of the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), which has garnered recognition from the federal government.

He urged the affluent members of the Awkuzu community to enroll their people in ASHIA. Additionally, Governor Obiano implored the community to focus on addressing the root causes of criminality amongst the youth, calling on everyone to contribute to supporting law enforcement agencies.

Notable dignitaries in attendance included Dr. Vincent Okpala, Commissioner for Health, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor, Works counterpart, Emeritus Archbishop and Emeritus Dean of the Anglican Communion, Archbishop Maxwell Anikwenwa, and Igwe Charles Anikweze, Traditional Ruler of Awkuzu.

This initiative marks a significant step forward in improving healthcare accessibility and reflects Governor Obiano’s unwavering commitment to healthcare development in Anambra State.
Additionally, it is worth noting that during the ceremony, the governor was conferred with the title of Ichele Nyili Akika Awkuzu by Igwe Professor Charles M. Anikweze, the Nnamenyi the third of Ibilibeogada kingdom. This signifies a strong acknowledgment and appreciation of Governor Obiano’s efforts in advancing healthcare in the region
